All our meat is either organic, rare-breed or traditional breed and raised locally by ourselves or neighbouring farmers.
Our lamb and mutton comes from Pickwell near Melton Mowbray. Most of our beef comes from Stathern in the Vale of Belvoir. Our Organic pork comes from Saddleback X pigs farmed in a free-ranging environment by farmer Richard Mee, of Hathern, Leicestershire. Our free-range chicken comes from Highwood Farm, in Misson, Nottinghamshire, where Sasso chickens, the gourmet’s choice for flavour, are raised in natural surroundings.
Our delicious pies, are hand-made at our bakery using the finest ingredients. Some of our pastry is made from organic flour, the wheat is grown in Leicestershire and ground in the traditional way at nearby Whissendine Windmill.
Brockleby’s Organic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is the winner of a Great Taste Awards gold prize and the Roper Challenge Cup for the best hand-raised pie. Made to a traditional 200-year-old recipe, it is made with crunchy hot-water pastry and the best cuts of organic Saddleback pork. It is baked without the support of a tin or mould, giving it the distinctive bow-sided shape of a Melton Mowbray pork pie.
